Shri Kaluram Bamniya, born on January 20, 1970, in Kanheriya, Dewas district, MP, is a renowned singer of Kabir Bhajans and recipient of the Padma Shri in 2024. From a family of marginal farmers, he began singing at nine, inspired by his father and grandfather. Despite limited education, he gained basic literacy and worked as a laborer from a young age. At 13, he moved to Rajasthan, learning bhajans while working, and later endured bonded labor for 14 years.
Specializing in Kabir, Mirabai, and Goraknath bhajans in Malwi dialect, Shri Kaluram has performed at local events and prestigious forums like the India International Centre, Kabir festivals, and universities such as AIIMS Rishikesh. An Akashvani artist, his works are featured on radio, TV, and in documentaries. An active member of Kabir Bhajan & Vichar Manch, he trains women and children in Malwa’s traditions. His awards include the Rashtriya Tulsi Award and Kabir Kohinoor Puraskar.
